Steam Dreams in partnership with the 5305 Locomotive Association is proud to offer a one off tour The Palatine from London to Manchester with newly restored Bristish Railways Britannia class locomotive 70013 Oliver Cromwell. This tour will run on Saturday 26th July 2008.

Hauling what will be the locomotives second tour since recent restoration the opportunity to travel along the Midland route to the north before crossing the scenic Hope Valley route is one not to be missed. Both routes are synonymous with this class of engine and the Hope Valley route via the Peak District National Park is one of the most spectacular in England.

Our train departs London's Victoria station around 0815hrs heading via West London before turning north and calling at St Albans at 0915hrs. From here we continue our journey north pausing to pick up passengers at Kettering (1015), Leicester (1115) and Loughborough (1130). We are then routed via Derby before skirting the edges of the Peak District until north of Chesterfield where we head west for the spectacular final section of our journey to Manchester arriving around 1400hrs

On arrival at Manchester there will be three hours or so to visit the many sights such as the Museums, Cathedral, and extensive shopping area.

Our return journey will be hauled by a preserved Class 50 diesel locomotive departing Manchester around 1730. We retrace our route enjoying a stunning Summer's evening through the Peak District and along the scenic Derbyshire and Leicestershire countryside. Our arrival back at Loughbourgh will be approximately 1930, Leicester 1945, Kettering 2015, St Albans 2100 and into London Victoria at 2145.

"Just thought you might like some feedback from a recent passenger. Yesterday my wife and I enjoyed a fabulous day out with you on the Exeter run with 30777. As a life long enthusiast I would say the best I've been on and taken to another level by the excellent standard of cuisine and attentive service. First class in every way. It was an ambitious trip, tight timings with 11/12 coaches and an engine a liitle light on its feet with such a load. Well done for taking it on. What a game little engine Sir Lamiel is and what a steamer! Well done the footplate crew and indeed the support crew especially for overcoming the problem on Honiton bank. I had many memorable moments on that journey with my head out of the window a lot of the way. Roaring through Basingstoke at nearly 10 o clock at night with the whistle shrieking I will re-live for ever! Steam Dreams? I went to sleep at 3am with a big smile on my face..............Steam Heaven! Well done and thanks again." TM Exeter 30th July 2007 trip
