Join us as we travel north to the historic city of York and the St Nicholas Christmas Fayre. York will be decorated for the season and the shopping is at its best with not only the fabulous shops normally found but also many market stalls selling seasonal goods. Its the perfect way to finish off your Christmas shopping, or perhaps get started!
The Cathedrals Express departs from London's Kings Cross station at approximately 0820hrs, heading north to pick up further passengers at Potters Bar (0845hrs), Stevenage (0900hrs) and Peterborough (0945hrs). We then take in the scenic run north through rolling countryside to arrive in York around 1125hrs. Our train is diesel hauled on the north bound leg of the journey.
Our return departs York around 1615hrs with our steam locomotive 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley hauling the train south. We retrace our route along the famous East Coast Main Line where our locomotive worked from the late 1930s to the early 1960s including the famous section of track south of Grantham where the 126mph world record for steam traction was set.We arrive back into Peterborough around 1900hrs, Stevenage around 2045hrs and Potters Bar 2105hrs. We will then continue on to arrive at the magnificent station at Kings Cross just before 2130hrs.
