Leaving London's Victoria station around 0945hrs this year we travel along the Brighton Main Line, a route making a welcome return to the Steam Dreams programme this Christmas as we head for an intimate Carol Concert in the Cathedral at Chichester.
We head south collecting passengers at East Croydon (app.1020hrs) and Redhill (app.1040hrs) before heading south towards the outskirts of Brighton. We divert away from Brighton and head via Hove to join the coastal route that takes us through Barnham and onto Chichester arriving around 1300hrs.
With time to visit the the city as well as the Steam Dreams Carol Concert our return leaves Chichester around 1715hrs. We retrace our steps heading for a fast run to London stopping off at Redhill (app.2020hrs) and East Croydon (app.2040hrs) on the way before an arrival back into London's Victoria station around 2100hrs.
Our train is steam hauled throughout by Southern Railway locomotive 34067 Tangmere, a highly appropriate choice as it hauled trains on this route in the 1950s when based at Stewarts Lane depot in Battersea, London.
Prices; Standard Class £59.50, First Class £89.00, Premier Dining £159.00, Pullman £199.00
Please note; The train takes a different route to that published in our Autumn brochure due to diffculties accommodating the train on the network south of Dorking.
