Lincoln Print E-mail
Since its 100BC iron-age settlement, Lincoln has played a full role in English history. Standing proudly above the fens, it was the capital of the Roman Province covering most of eastern England.

Lincoln’s cathedral was founded in 1072 by William the Conqueror. Today the world-famous cathedral and castle are at the centre of a vivacious city where the historic Bailgate, recently regenerated Waterside and St Marks areas provide plenty of diversity for shoppers and sightseers.

On 7 December our train is timed to coincide with Lincoln’s now traditional Christmas Market. Held in the cobbled streets below the cathedral, this magical market offers a truly astounding range of Christmas gifts. Roasted chestnuts, mince pies and particularly potent hot mulled wine along with carol singers, a street theatre and stall holders in Victorian dress make the Lincoln Christmas market a spectacle not to be missed.

My parents traveled on the steam train yesterday to Canterbury. Steam Dreams made my father's 60th birthday a once in a lifetime memory. The service was brilliant, actually beyond brilliant, the train was amazing and his cake was lovely. The hospitality surpassed expectations; food and drink was very much enjoyed. For anyone looking for the perfect present for a family member I would definitely recommend Steam Dreams. Also Steam Dreams HQ are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Thank you again for my father's amazing day. F B-M - 24.09.08
