York Print E-mail
York, with over 2,000 years of history, is a glorious city with lots to keep you busy. The stunning Minster with its renowned Rose window, the National Railway Museum – home to record breaking locomotive Mallard and the finest railway museum in the world - and the Jorvik Viking Centre are just some of what the city has to offer.

York’s mediaeval guildhalls, Georgian town house, National Trust and English heritage properties plus superb shops, restaurants, real ale pubs and cafes are all well worth a visit.

The walled city, with its winding streets and architectural gems, is compact with the River Ouse running through it. Pleasure boat trips are available on the river from the centre of town.

Try to fit in afternoon tea at the famous Betty’s in St Helen’s Square, a speciality tea room and patisserie.

Just a short note to thank you for a great day out on "The Norfolkman" from London Liverpool Street to Norwich and back on 9th September 2008. - A great day out and a great train. - I am no "Steam Buff" but it seems to me that "Oliver Cromwell" 70013 is quite an engine! Most of all a big thank you to your staff who looked after me and my 83 year-old father in carriage B (seats 7 R & F) - your kindness and attentiveness could not have been better and made the day for us. For anyone looking for a day out I thoroughly recommend you and your "Premier Dining" Service in particular.Best Regards,NS
