Cheltenham is England' s most complete Regency town with lovely architecture, sweeping avenues and gardens, wide streets and a pedestrianised shopping centre based around The Promenade, Montpellier and the High Street.
In 1788 King George III came to drink the medicinal waters and Cheltenham's transformation into a fashionable resort began. Its heyday as England's leading spa lasted from about 1790-1840. It has a long arts tradition and Gustav Holst was born here in 1874 and the Antarctic Explorer Edward Wilson who perished with Scott is remembered in the Museum.
The Cheltenham Festival rivals the Grand National as the leading horse racing event of the year and racegoers descend on the city in their tens of thousands for the four day Spring Meeting.

My parents traveled on the steam train yesterday to Canterbury. Steam Dreams made my father's 60th birthday a once in a lifetime memory. The service was brilliant, actually beyond brilliant, the train was amazing and his cake was lovely. The hospitality surpassed expectations; food and drink was very much enjoyed. For anyone looking for the perfect present for a family member I would definitely recommend Steam Dreams. Also Steam Dreams HQ are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Thank you again for my father's amazing day. F B-M - 24.09.08
