The train will be hauled by former LNER K4 Class locomotive 61994 The Great Marquess, a locomotive built for Scotland where it operated out of Glasgow for most of its working life.
This trip will take the hilly Shotts route which has not seen preserved steam in decades and then via the south side of Glasgow and out via Paisley and Troon before arrival in Ayr.

The train will leave Edinburgh around 10:00 and arrive in Ayr around13:00hrs. On the return departing from Ayr at 16:00hrs and arriving back in Edinburgh around 19:00hrs.
